New Designs for October Dog Rescue Fundraiser

In October I will be doing my second annual fundraiser for a dog rescue group specializing in labradoodles and goldendoodles. Here are a few new designs fresh off the sculpting table (not even bisque fired yet).

Loveland Sculpture Show Inspires

The world-class Loveland sculpture show this weekend was awe inspiring– so many sculptors, so many media, so many visions. I’m planning my bronze follow-up to the platypus, now– maybe I’ll be a participant instead of a visitor next year.

If you missed the show, you can still catch the flavor. Local people and visitors to Colorado can wander the paths of the glorious Benson Sculpture Garden– take a picnic (and kids and bikes if you have them) and make a day of it.

Urn for Beloved Poodle

Hi Jen,

Just wanted to thank you once again for creating such a beautiful resting place for Piper. I can’t believe how you have so perfectly captured his little face, his eyes and the way he is looking up, and even the pieces of hair that were forever sticking up in front of his eyes (no matter how much I cut it or tried to make it lay down)! He even has his favorite slipper to keep him company! Thank you Jen for creating such a wonderful memory of our beloved and dearly missed Piper.

Rocky Mountain Animal Research

On a recent trip to South Dakota, I took some photos to serve as resource material for a new line of animal ornaments. The first mini-herd came into existence today. I haven’t quit shrunk them down to ornament size, but I’m close.

Rudkin Studio ALMOST Goes to the Dogs

I had six custom dog sculptures in the last kiln load—a Springer Spaniel, Tibetan Terrier, Jack Russell Mix, Rottweiler Sign Holder, Lab Mix Sign Holder, and Miniature Poodle Urn. BUT amidst all those canines was a non-dog custom piece– a “Puckmarin” from the 1980s film Flight of the Navigator.

Sign Holding Dog Sculptures

I have made sign holding dog sculptures in a variety of breeds. People have such creative ways of using them– number holders on wedding tables, plant labels in gardens, dish labels at potlucks. And of course, welcome dogs for your visitors (and these guys never jump on you with muddy feet).

My 15 Minutes of Fame

My picture made it to the cover of the Daily Camera’s Friday section. It was quite a shock when I sat down with my coffee and the paper that morning! The photographer caught me working on a roller skating turtle so I guess the turtle got a few minutes of fame as well!

And there was a very nice article on the Tour as well (not 100% accurate in the quotes, but still nice). Check it out online
